Digital Space Art: Double Ringed Planets

Using our solar system as an example, ringed planets should be fairly common throughout the universe. Having two in close proximity is far less likely, but orbits could create some close encounters somewhere. If not, it’s still fun to speculate. Space certainly has its oddities.

Ringed Double

Double ringed planets was easy enough to execute. Duplicating the planet and rings, then sizing and changing colors is about all it took. I probably spent and equal amount of time scooting nebulas around. This is about a fifty layer composite which I did in about an hour in Photoshop CS2. Note that all the layers are borrowed from other projects, so creating this from scratch might have taken 20 hours.
